OFF THE MAP, OFF THE RICHTER SCALE!!!

It was a tense night in the National Video Games Arcade in Nottingham city centre last night. Emotions ran the gamut from optimistic elation to early self-doubt, but anticipation drowned out all other thoughts as the teams and guests waited for the announcement of the winners of the Off the Map competition 2015.

The competition to create a game level, which has been running for three years now, was hosted by the organisers of Nottingham's Game City Festival in collaboration with The British Library who set the theme of Alice in Wonderland for this year's competition.

Game Art DMU dominated all three top slots in this year's competition which saw eleven teams nationwide entering the highly competitive event.

But as with all competitions only one can come out on top. The three teams: "Off Rockers", "Hare Trigger" and Solo entrant Chris Lonsdale took to the stage, presided over by top Guardian Games Journalist, Jordan Erica Webber, to present their entries to the packed audience.

As the pressure mounted British Library representative, Stella Wisdom took to the stage.

and announced that the winner of the competition was 'Off Their Rockers' with The Wondering Lands of Alice!

Nobody surpassed the team themselves for surprise at the result, but it was heartily deserved.

So it's a massive congratulations to a very well deserving 'Off Their Rockers' team and not least a huge thankyou and well done to all of the teams who participated in the Alice off the Map competition, you all did tremendously well!

Before retiring to the toast bar the British Library representatives were very excited to announce the theme for the Off The Map 2016 competition, but with out a doubt next year's entries will be such stuff as dreams are made on...
